The most important day for Thai high schoolers took place over the weekend as students across the country sat standardized tests, the gateway to the universities of their dreams.
Known as probably the most ridiculous, mind-boggling test in the world, Thailand’s standardized exam for high school graduates, “ONET,” was held for two days.
But some students left the test room with even more questions in their heads and logged onto the internet to ask: WTF were those questions?
For yet another year, students shared the most confusing questions on the test on the popular “Dek-D” or “Good Kid” forum. Here are some of the questions collected by website Minimore.

From the Social Studies exam:
Question: Which of the following would NOT come under the remit of Thai law?
a) Breaking a law on a Singaporean plane while it is parked at Suvarnabhumi airport
b) Breaking a law on a Thai Airways flight while flying in Vietnam territory
c) Breaking a law on a Thai ship on international waters
d) Breaking a law on a Thai Airways flight while the plane is parked in Hong Kong
e) A Thai defaming another Thai while in Japan
How about mixing astronomy with philosophy?
From Science exam:
Question: Which of the following is a lesson learned from the evolution of a star?
a) Make hay while the sun shines
b) Even the wisest man may fall
c) All things exist on borrowed time
d) Knowledge is power

Question: If you find a trace of Naga, the mythical serpent, and want to prove its existence, which of the following should you NOT do?

Some exam-setters got really imaginative. Instead of asking specifically about endangered species, they went about it a more confusing, roundabout way:
Question: Which food affects the conservation of “rare animals”?
a) Shark fin soup
b) Bird’s nest drink
c) Isaan fermented sausage
d) Antler soup
e) Slow-roasted goat’s leg
The answer could be d) Antler soup as three types of deers are listed in the 15 reserved wild animals in Thailand.
Then again, e) Slow-roasted goat’s leg could be the correct answer if you’re creative enough because a serow, or the medium-sized goat-like mammal, is also in the “endangered animals” list.
The exam room then got a little bit heated when it came to the Health exam, which proved our kids don’t get taught much in their sex education class.
Question: Which of the following would likely cause a “sexual problem”?
a) Traveling to another city with opposite-sex friends
b) Tutoring a person of the opposite sex alone at your house
c) Surfing the internet at a friend’s house until late at night
d) Going to a movie with a person of the opposite sex without telling your parents
e) Joining a club at school which has many opposite-sex members
“Sexual problem”? Don’t you mean “sexual tension”?
Last but not least, there are rules about how to treat your partner in Thai culture that teens must know before proceeding to higher education.
Question: When in a relationship, how should you behave according to Thai traditions?
a) Embrace your partner while walking at the mall
b) Invite your partner to movies and dinner
c) Rest your head on your partner’s lap in public
d) Go on an overnight beach trip
e) Feed each other in restaurants
Our answer is e) feeding each other in restaurants, because that childish behavior should definitely have ended in high school.
