Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnert said yesterday there will be no extra holidays on Sept. 24-27 after the TAT attempted to use the media to encourage the cabinet to give people days off to promote tourism.
Although the Tourism Ministry sent out a press release that Thais all deserve extra holidays next month after the industry suffered from the recent bombings in Southern Thailand, Sansern said the organization never sent their proposal to the cabinet, so the holiday was never considered.
He added the government also has to ensure public holidays must be kept at an appropriate level, and they should take other aspects into account when adding extra holidays, Thairath reported.
